Today was my first day of taking photographs on the course and I am more clued up now regarding how to use shutter, aperture and how to get the right exposure. I spent the afternoon concentrating on depth of field, and how to pick out the right setting or the right object to apply this to. The library was the perfect starting point as the books in line looked effective together in a photograph.. I attempted to experiment with blurring out the foreground and having the background in focus, and then vice versa. I used f/2 for my aperture and around 800s for my shutter speed.
After my first attempt at using depth of field, I began to experiment with different things around me.
Foreground Vs Background- Differentiating between the foreground and the background in order to create a sense of visual hierarchy
The two shots of the nail varnish stood out for me because of the boldness of color that shines out against the blurred background. I thought that it looked quite effective this way, even though the shot is pretty simple.
These shots of the railing were shot with a few different f. stops, all below 6 stops. I was pleased with these photographs because it was interesting to be able to pick out the different bars and which ones I wanted to be shown in clarity.
